Passengers of an IndiGo flight from the city to Doha waited inside the aircraft for more than four hours as the flight was delayed due to a technical issue on Sunday. Some passengers took to social media to complain about the long flight delay and that they had to wait for long. The flight was to take off on Sunday early morning. A road caved in at an intersection in Dadar in central Mumbai on Thursday, trapping a car's tyre in the crater, civic officials said. No one was injured in the incident that occurred around 11.30 am at the busy Kismat junction on Veer Savarkar Marg in Dadar West, they said. It created a 3 feet X 5 feet crater. Traffic police with the help of locals pulled out the car from the crater after the cave-in, which briefly disrupted vehicular movement in Dadar. A video purportedly showing the incident surfaced on social media. In a statement, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said the road caved in due to leakage from a 66-inch underground pipeline. The leakage was on the down part of the pipeline, which was noticed after the crater was deepened through digging as part of repair efforts, it said. The pipeline repair was delayed due to scheduled water supply in the locality, the statement said, adding it was finally undertaken in the evening. Repairs will take time and water supply .
Realty firm House of Hiranandani will invest Rs 3,200 crore to redevelop five housing societies in Mumbai. The company said it has signed additional redevelopment projects of 17 lakh square feet with a GDV (Gross Development Value) of Rs 5,000 crore. "The company has entered into registered development agreements with five major housing societies in Chembur and plans to invest Rs 3,200 crore," House of Hiranandani said in a statement. These five housing societies in Chembur comprising 459 tenants include redevelopment of Maitri Park in Chembur East, admeasuring about 9 acres and Shrinagar Society in Chembur West, a cluster of four societies admeasuring about six acres. Vistara flight UK 27, operating from Mumbai to Frankfurt, on Friday has been diverted to Turkey due to security concerns, the airline has said. The security alert (bomb threat) was noted by the Vistara crew onboard, the airline said in a statement. The aircraft has safely landed at the Erzurum Airport, and as per the protocol, the relevant authorities were immediately alerted, and Vistara is fully cooperating with the security agencies to complete the mandatory security checks, it added. However, other details like the number of passengers and crew on board were not immediately known.
The operation to douse the blaze at a commercial building in Mumbai concluded after more than five hours on Friday afternoon, civic officials said. There were no reports of any injury to anyone in the fire that broke out at the Times Tower building in the Kamala Mills compound in the Lower Parel area around 6.30 am, they said. The level 2 (major) fire was confined to an electric duct between the 3rd and 7th floors on the rear side of the 14-storey building with a glass facade, a civic official said. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has appointed contractors for nine infrastructure projects worth Rs 12,500 crore in and around Mumbai, including the extension of the Eastern Freeway up to Thane. In a release on Thursday, MMRDA said that the executive committee of the urban planning body chaired by Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sujata Sainik approved these projects "to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance connectivity". Though the company will add 120 new screens in FY25, it will also close almost 6070 non-performing screens, as it chases for profitable growth. About 40 per cent of new screens addition will come from South India, where it will have a "strategic focus" on this lesser penetrated region as per its medium to long-term strategy.
