Shivraj Singh Chouhan was born on 5 March 1959, and is an Indian politician, belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He is serving as the 17th and current Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh from around 2020, and has been in that role earlier from 2005 to 2018. He has been a Member from Legislative Assembly in Madhya Pradesh from Budhni since 2006 and formerly from 1990 to 1991. He is the longest serving Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister.

He was also the Bharatiya Janata Party's National Vice President from 2019 to 2020, the Parliamentary Board member and has also served as Central Election Committee member for the party. From 2000 to 2002, he was the National President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.?

From 1991 to 2005, he was also a Lok Sabha Member, representing Vidisha. As a leader of the BJP, Chouhan served as a President of Madhya Pradesh state unit and General Secretary. In 1972, when he was a 13 years old boy, he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.?

Shivraj Singh Chouhan was born on 5 March 1959 in Budhni, Madhya Pradesh (India). He was raised in a middle class family, his parents were his loved ones. His father's name is Prem Singh Chauhan and mother's name is Smt Sunderbhai Chauhan.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan has two siblings; first brother’s name is Narendra Singh Chauhan and second brother’s name is Surjit Singh Chauhan. Chauhan was married in the year 1992 with Mrs. Sadhna Singh and they have two children; Kartikeya Chouhan and Kunal Chauhan.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan finished his early education in his hometown and procured a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Political Science and Law from Barkatullah University, Bhopal. His journey in politics started during his college days when he effectively took part in the student wing of the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).?

Political life?
His early political career ended with his first election to the Lok Sabha. He was chosen as President of the Model School Students Union in 1975. From 1976 to 1977, he took part in the underground movement against the Emergency and was detained in Bhopal Prison for quite a while.

Chouhan was first chosen for the State Assembly from Budhni Constituency in 1990. He was chosen a Member of Parliament for the first time in his profession in 10th Lok Sabha from Vidisha Constituency in the next year.

He was re-elected to the 11th Lok Sabha (his second term) in 1996. From 1996 to 1997, he was a Member of Committee on Urban and Rural Development and Member of Consultative Committee, Member of Committee on Urban and Rural Development, and Ministry of Human Resources Development, and from 1997 to 1998, he served as the General Secretary of BJP, Madhya Pradesh and Member of Committee on Urban and Rural Development.?

He was re-elected to the 12th Lok Sabha (third term) again in 1998. From 1998 to 1999, he was a Member of the Committee on Urban and Rural Development and its Sub-Committee on the Ministry of Rural Areas and Employment.?

From 1999, his fourth term started in the 13th Lok Sabha. From 1999 to 2000, he was Committee on Agriculture member, Committee on Public Undertakings member from 1999 to 2001, and from 2000 to 2003, he was National President of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha. He was also the National Secretary of Bhartiya Janata Party and Chairman of the House Committee (Lok Sabha).

From 2000 to 2004, he was a Consultative Committee member, ministry of Communications. He was reappointed to 14th Lok Sabha (5th term) in 2004, with an edge of more than 260,000 votes. He was Committee on Agriculture member, National General Secretary of BJP, Joint Committee member on Offices of Profit, Secretary of Parliamentary Board, and Secretary (Central Election Committee). He likewise was a member of the Committee on Ethics and headed the Housing Committee of Lok Sabha.?

As the state BJP President in 2005, Chouhan was elected as the Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister on 30 November. In 2008, he was sworn in for his next term. On 8 December 2013, He was likewise chosen as the same for a third term.
